Its time to start a new chapter in my life and pursue my dream. I am going for a Holistic Nutritionist Certification in the form of an RHN. While it hasn’t always been my dream, it is something that has been growing for a number of years now. This is something which I never actually thought would come true. Ever since our son was diagnosed with a developmental delay 3 years ago the way we look at food and our food philosophy has turned upside down. As soon as we realised that diet had a great deal more than we thought to do with our children’s growth and development I made it my mission in life to research and read every label, find a local and organic meat supplier, cook and make as many foods as I could from scratch and basically get down to basics and go “old school”.
I find it fascinating, rewarding, eye opening and joyful to be able to look at food in a different way now. I consider it a personal challenge to find recipes that the whole family love and that are good for us, good for the earth and good for our children’s development.
So you could say it has been a dream of mine to make this lifestyle a full time vocation, and now I have the chance to take this opportunity head on and soak up as much information and hands on experience as possible.
I start my course in March and it runs for a year, full time and I cannot wait to get started. Subjects range from the fundamentals of nutrition to anatomy & physiology to the body-mind-spirit connection and pediatric nutrition (the one I am most excited about)
Its going to be a fun challenge to juggle not only a full time course but my company (Maxwell Designs) and my family but I am more than up to the challenge and embrace all that this new year has to offer me.
If any of you have had a similar experience or are on the same path please let me know in the comments below
