What to do on a cold, rainy, windy day. What is your favourite thing to do? If I wasn’t studying I would wrap myself up in a comfy warm blanket with a cup of herbal tea and read a book! That is my absolute favourite thing to do. Anytime I have a spare few hours I love to read, now a days its text books for school, which are very interesting don’t get me wrong but I love books that take me away. Books that transport you to another time or place where you can get absorbed by the characters and places are my ultimate favourite.
I am not exactly sure where my love of reading came from, I don’t remember my Mum reading anything but the crossword puzzle but I do remember we had a lot of book shelves when I was growing up. My love of reading hasn’t always been there though, I think I really took up reading for pleasure in my thirties. I found books that fascinated me and I was captured.
I do find it hard sometimes to walk into a book store and find “the one” book. I think there is just too much choice and can you really tell a book by its cover? or brief synopsis on the insight jacket? I love it when friends give recommendations, you can usually tell if its a good book by the passion with which they speak about their recent find, if their eyes light up and there hands start gesturing excitedly you know you’ve probably found “the one”.
What’s your favourite book genre? I have to say that mine is a little all over the place except for romance and horror – those are no go’s for me. I enjoy books that have become movies (I always read the book before I see the movie of course), I love biographies and autobiographies, I do love a good period drama but most of all I enjoy a book that takes me away from it all, one that you just cant put down, there’s nothing better on a cold rainy day.
