How do you know if its you or your environment? You feel sick, your bloated, your constipated, you have brain fog. You’ve had it for a while now and you just can’t figure out whats causing it. You change your diet but you still feel the same, you cut out gluten and you still feel the same – what is wrong with you?
Perhaps its not you at all! I know, crazy thought right? But bear with me on this.
Do you go on vacation?
Do you spend time away from you usual environment in a relaxing and happy place?
If so, how do you feel when your there? Think back to your last vacation, hopefully it wasn’t that long ago, and try to remember how you felt.
Do you remember feeling the warm sun on your face? Do you remember smiling – a lot! Do you remember laughing, not caring what time it was – in fact you left your watch at home.
Do you remember barely picking up your phone to check social media because nothing could be as relaxing, amazing and enjoyable as this moment right here?
Now try to remember how your body felt. Did you feel “just right”, did you feel balanced, did you eat when you wanted to and not when you felt you had to because someone said it was lunch time or dinner time. Or maybe you didn’t feel anything as it wasn’t something that was actually on your mind! The action of eating food wasn’t as important as it was at home, you were too busy taking everything in, your mind was too preoccupied with enjoying this moment, resting, going with the flow.
You might not have realized it but you became more regular, you started pooping every day! You slept better, longer, deeper, your trigger finger wasn’t constantly itching to post the latest Facebook update or Instagram photo.
If any of these happened to you, its more than likely your environment is causing the symptoms you feel when your at home – why? Because you didn’t change – the only thing that changed was your environment. Its then time to look at how your environment is causing your symptoms. Look at how your stress manifests itself and how you cope with it. Look at how social media is influencing your outlook on your own life or what standards it is imposing on how you see yourself and others.
Looking at it another way, if your body is constantly replacing itself, constantly renewing cells – why are you still sick? That’s because you haven’t changed the signals you are sending to your cells. Your mindset is the same, you are still sending the same messages, the same negative thoughts and emotions. We are made up of pure energy and that energy passes through each and every cell – if we change the signal, change the mindset to a more positive one, it is possible to change the state of our health.
