Are you over 40 and find that by the time you get to Friday night you are absolutely knackered and you have nothing let in the tank? You’ve spent the week racing around, chasing your tail and you can’t believe another week has flown by?
Ok so you’re not alone – so many of us are in the same boat. I bet you’re an extremely capable person – a great multi tasker – but you never stop because there’s always so much to do.
It’s almost like being under the spell of being a PERFECTIONIST because this fast paced world places such demands to conform to so many superficial expectations. Have you got a tidy home, a clean car, eat a well balanced diet, look after yourself with exercise and self care etc. On top of that – are you working long hours – and being the best possible partner, parent, friend?
But you know what – most of us are too hard on ourselves. We place huge expectations on ourselves – we put pressure on ourselves by trying to do everything, be everything to everyone and tick all the boxes on your to-do list. It’s an exhausting job trying to look good, feel good and think in a positive manner ALL THE TIME and be there for everyone who “needs” you.
All of these pressures cause so much CHAOS in your life.
And guess what – you made the CHOICE to do all of these things.
As you get older – your body is going to start sending you some very loud and clear messages. It’s trying to tell you to SLOW DOWN. This constant Stress will eventually cause illness.
If you’re a chick – who is peri/menopausal – maybe you’re hair starts falling out, you start gaining weight around your middle – you can’t sleep – or for guys – you may start putting on weight – or relying on more unhealthy choices as stress relief. Whatever it is – this constant life of stress and chaos is going to catch up with you and it will be sooner rather than later.
But what if you said “Bugger This” – I choose to live a life where it’s more Calm, peaceful and relaxed?
What if you shifted your mindset and focused on what really is important to you. Let go of the shackles of the expectations of society and conforming to “keeping up with the Joneses”.
OMG can you imagine a life where you have less stress – loads more energy – you’re more relaxed – have more fun and your life is way more Simpler? It’s called LETTNG GO – getting rid of the stuff thats really not that important at the end of the day.
Here’s a little exercise for you – write down all the routine things you do every day and have a look at where you are currently spending all your time and energy. Is it really benefiting you – and those close to you at the end of the day? Is there room to remove some of the tasks or perhaps shift your mindset so the focus isn’t really as important as you thought it was?
LET GO and FOCUS on the things that bring you Joy and benefit you and those close to you.
Wouldn’t you prefer a more peaceful and calm life? Don’t you deserve it?
